We can help restore a smile with multiple missing teeth to full function with a full or partial set of dentures.

What are dentures?

Dentures – also sometimes referred to as ‘false teeth’ – are one of the most popular replacement options when it comes to missing teeth, and the chances are you’ve already heard of them! Formed of a chrome or acrylic base that sits over the gums and a set of prosthetic teeth that sit on top of this, traditional dentures are removable and usually held in place with a dental adhesive. They are also available as either ‘full’ or ‘partial’.

What is the difference between full and partial dentures?

As the names suggest, full and partial dentures are used in different situations depending on how many teeth need replacing. If we need to replace a whole arch of teeth, then we’ll recommend full dentures, while partial dentures can be used to replace one, two, or a few missing or soon-to-be-extracted teeth.

If you think you might be in need of a denture or are interested in any of our treatments at Corner House Dental Practice, please contact us or call us on 01403 251 015.

FAQs

Why might I need dentures?

At The Corner House Dental, we’re keen to emphasise the need to replace missing or extracted teeth wherever suitable and as soon as possible. Missing teeth can have a detrimental effect not only on the overall oral health of the patient but also on their self-confidence. It can also lead to difficulties speaking and, chewing and eating.

As mentioned, traditional dentures are a very popular way of replacing missing teeth. They are cost-effective, long lasting, and easy to take care of. They can also be used to replace multiple teeth at once, which is highly beneficial in some situations.

What is the treatment process like?

Receiving dentures usually takes place over a few appointments and can take a month or two from start to finish. After an initial consultation, where we’ll help you determine whether this is the right route for you and whether you’re a suitable candidate, you’ll come back into the practice, and we’ll take measurements and impressions of the mouth. These will then be used to create your personal dentures for you.

Once they’re ready, you can come back in to have them fitted, and we can check that everything sits and fits as it should. We’ll also be able to go through how to take care of your dentures at home, as keeping them clean is important in helping to prevent infections from occurring in the mouth.
